Weight Loss and Mindset
Posted in Make Your Life BetterI’ve dealt with weight issues since I was about 6 years old. That’s when I started eating more than my body needed and for reasons other than being hungry. I remember at about age 7, my best friend telling me he didn’t want to be friends anymore because people were saying I was fat. I went on my first diet at age 10 which began a roller-coaster ride of diets, pills and therapy that lasted about 15 years. I know now that being overweight has much more to do with what goes on in my mind than what I eat or how much I exercise. I believe weight loss, body image and mindset are linked much more than many of the “diet gurus” would lead you to believe. Sure, you can go on a 1200 calorie/day diet and lose a lot of weight, but if you keep up the negative self-talk, the weight will just creep right back on. And you’ll feel worse than when you started.
I’m at a much better place in my life about my body than I’ve ever been, but I would still like to lose a few pounds. I won’t do it by dieting though. I know the truth…diets just don’t work. Steve would like to lose a few pounds too, although I don’t think his weight issues are as deeply rooted as mine. Although, who knows…I certainly don’t know everything that goes on in his mind
We’ll keep doing videos about weight loss and mindset and see where it takes us. So, I guess this is the first in a new series (would love to know what you think) …
