Well this game is getting wonderfully interesting. I’ve been trying to stretch out of my comfort zone by googling the dollar number of the day, to see what other people spend money on. Today I ran across this wonderful story. You can read the rest of it by clicking on the word SOURCE

My mom died of Cancer, so did Sue’s father. We have no fear of cancer, but there’s no denying how much it hurts to lose loved ones. So for today, I’m making a donation of $18,000 from my Prosperity Game to match what all these wonderful people in Boulder CO, raised for a beloved teacher.

The fact that they’re all singing, You Are My Sunshine, got to me personally as well. I remember very well being 6 years old, sitting in my french grandparents kitchen, while the whole family sang that song, in English, with thick accents. It happened pretty much every Sat nite, a kind of tradition. If there was company over, everyone sang that song. I’m a lucky man.

Attempt at world record raises over $18,000 for teacher with cancer

BOULDER, Colo. — With a roaring finale fit for a symphony, more than 550 bell ringers who filled a field at New Vista High School in Boulder on Saturday helped a single mother fighting cancer, and likely shattered a world record.

“I’m absolutely speechless,” said Alys Hansen, 19. “You can feel the love and the energy of all these people.”

Alys, the oldest daughter of Leson Dunkley-Hansen, said she never expected so many people to show up to support her mother.

Dunkley-Hansen, a single mother of four and a former teacher at Boulder Community School of Integrated Studies, was diagnosed last year with breast cancer that has spread to her brain and lungs.

Cynthia Carosella, a close friend who’s organized several fundraisers to support the family while Dunkley-Hansen can’t work, organized the bell-ringing event to raise money — and to try and break the Guinness World Record for the “largest bicycle-bell ensemble.”
