Manifesting Shouldn’t Feel Like Work (even though it does sometimes!)

I have been seriously practicing the Law of Attraction since August, 2007. In the past two years, my entire life has changed as a result. I’ve manifested things, large and small, among them two jobs.

I think that when people begin practicing the Law of Attraction with intention (because we are always practicing it but we may not be aware of it), they work too hard. I’ve seen countless people ask why they aren’t manifesting something because they are “trying so hard” or they “wanted it so much”. That is precisely why manifesting something won’t happen…it’s not supposed to be work! When something feels like work..when you are trying hard, there is naturally resistance built into the process. The Law of Attraction doesn’t work where there is resistance. People then get frustrated and ask why they are “failing” at manifesting something. That only perpetuates the resistance, because now you are thinking of yourself as a failure.

Likewise, when you want something, you are focused on the wanting instead of on the having.

So, I’d invite you in this moment to…just….stop.

That’s right. Stop.

Forget about everything you’ve been trying to do to manifest something. There is no “trying,” there is only “doing” and you have to stop and DO. When I realized this, I started to manifest really big things in my life. So, here is what I do:

1. Clarity. I get crystal clear about what I want. If you aren’t clear about what you want, how can you possibly manifest it?

2. Getting the intention out into the Universe. The act of writing out your intention in words gets it out of the realm of our messy heads and into the Universe. It makes it more tangible. So, once I have a clear intention, I write the following in a journal:

“Dear God (you can substitute “Universe” or “Source” or “Fred”-whatever works for you), thank you for [insert your intention here].”

Now, here is the key part of this phrase that makes it successful…you have to write it in the present tense, as if you already have what you want to manifest. This tells the Universe that you have absolutely no resistance to this happening, that you believe it completely. It also shows gratitude, which is the most magical and most effective way to bring positive change into your life.

This step is important because it is a necessary transition into ….

3. Allowing. You have to be completely open to receiving what you want. It sounds like an easy thing because hey, if I really, really want something, how can I not be allowing it?! The truth is, we don’t allow what we want to manifest into your lives when we allow negative thoughts and patterns in our lives to play themselves out, like, “Yes, it would be nice to have this job, but I’m not qualified. But maybe I’ll get it. Who knows. It doesn’t hurt to try.” Thoughts like that are full of doubt. Get rid of them! The best way I’ve found to get rid of them is to fill my day with positive affirmations. In fact, I have become such a fan of affirmations that I feel like I am on auto pilot when I say them. But that’s OK. Don’t think too much about them. Just say them. Often.

Finally…

4. Let It Go. Don’t obsess about it. Don’t worry. Don’t be anxious. Don’t live your life on edge waiting for it to happen. Again, that is a sign of resistance. Just live your daily life in a state of gratitude and the magic will happen. But don’t forget, the Universe has a way of only giving you something right at the moment you need it, and only if you’re ready for it. That’s called Divine Timing. It’s not our timing, so don’t try to understand it, because you never will. And you’re not supposed to. This is where you just have to trust that the Universe is working in your best interests and is only going to give you something when the timing is right for your highest and best good.

So, take the stress out of manifesting and have fun with it!

    Sat Nam (reverent greetings)

it is key that you involve your emotions – if your heart has no ‘buy in’ – it won’t manifest

    - FEEL what it would be like to have the manifestation right now – joy, happiness, bliss – hold on to those feelings as you visualize …

    peace to all,
