Dear Sue and Steve-
I have great respect and admiration for your journey and vision. I am in a similar situation in that I am leaving an unsatisfactory career to pursue my passion and excites me each and everyday! I am a huge fan of Abraham-Hicks and I credit their guidance and teaching to bring me to the point where I am today. I am loving it.

I have been a Financial Planner for 15 years and have decided to pursue a career in Life Coaching. I am focusing on businesses now as my niche, but I like you sense a huge ground swell of people who want more guidance along with the laws of the universe that Abraham speaks about. I see a future in that light.

I am more excited and happy than I have ever been in my professional life. I am so happy with my family life as I have a wonderful supportive wife and 2 amazing daughters who respond to me more when I am happy and joyful.

I would love to talk more to you to about your inspirations and how we may be able to co-create our dream lives together.

Yours in spirit, love, and appreciation,
Jack Collins

Wow Steve,
I love your straight forward approach in this post. Thank you for sharing it!!
I have a tendancy to live in fear at times also, however I have to put my belief in my higher power and remember sometimes to "Let Go, Let God". Though I have been where Stuart is as well, Great things have come from following what the universe has in store for me and believing all things happen for a reason.

Keep up the great work
I'm counting on you

This is one of the most productive dialogues I've seen in a long time. I am deeply impressed by the civility and respect shown by all.

I do admire the courage and drive that S&S have in their endeavors. I too am a believer in the Law of Attraction. I finally "jumped off the cliff" and left a well-paying job at Universal Studios to strike out on my own, with no prospects on the horizon, and within a month I had three composing gigs, one of which led to writing three hours of music for a popular yoga DVD ("Gravity & Grace," directed by Mikki Willis)... which then prompted me to take up yoga myself. And with Mikki I also worked on five films for the Elevate Film Festival and my wife was a still photographer on one of the films. The Elevate "wealth" spread to my son who directed the award-winning "The Black Door," and a dear friend of his won three awards for her directing Shakti's music video. Our Elevate family has expanded exponentially to embrace some of the most amazing people on the planet.

There is a "however" in all this, in that I didn't leave Universal penniless. Having worked on over 500 films has generated a royalty check that keeps the wolves from the door, at least for the time being, so I did ensure that my bases were covered before making the Big Leap into the Unknown.

Gail (above) makes a good point about putting money aside for a vacation, and the "wanting and anticipation" adds to the excitement. Robert Grudin in "Time and the Art of Living" (if you don't know the book, I highly recommend it) says that by planning a vacation in advance, you extend the experience. Reading books and travel brochures and researching your destination on the Internet heightens the exhilaration of what's to come, making it very alive. Imagining yourself walking the streets of Rome, for example, months before you get there, brings the vacation right into your daily life, and so the experience of what may eventually be only ten days can actually become many months.

One last point: don't think that using credit cards is making a pact with the devil. As I said in one of my dialogs with Steve, I pay mine off in full every month, so it costs me nothing to use them. I use them to pay for everything, which has two benefits: at the end of the year, my bank provides me with a complete itemized list of expenditures (great for doing our taxes), AND for every dollar spent we earn one air mile with Alaska Airlines. Using our accumulated mileage, last year my wife and I flew business class to Lima, Buenos Aires, and Rio de Janeiro to film a documentary. Our tickets otherwise would have cost around $10,000. Hmmm... if I could only get my mortgage company to accept Visa....

I'm enjoying all the comments. Keep 'em coming!
Blessings to all.

By the way, here is a link to the Robert Grudin book mentioned above. It has a lot of delicious excerpts to whet your appetite:

Steve (and Sue :),

This is really a FANTASTIC post!!! I don't think I have read a post in its entirety without my attention span jumping off the page like I read this one. I love the transparency here and appreciate the "fear factor" myself. I have had these exact feelings and have trained myself to pull back into my "core belief" that I am on the right track despite the fear.

Thanks for this outstanding post, Steve... Loved it :)

Just love the back and forth conversation in these posts. I have known some very rich and some very poor people in my time. One thing I noticed about the very rich was that they certainly owed a lot more money than the rest of us! I've always been one for living happily within my means but agree that sometimes taking a vacation is the best thing you can do for yourself, your family and your work life. It has taken years for us to be able to afford them, lots of vacations in early years were taken at back-yard beach but what made them great was being together and having fun. The older I get the more important vacations become and we now start planning them and paying for them a year ahead of time so that they are financially stress free. Sometimes this just means putting the money in the bank and considering it off limits and already spent. We get the pleasure of a full year of anticipation and planning and when we feel weary of everyday things we look at videos and pictures of the next place we are heading off to, and go there in our imaginations. The wanting and anticiptation become "delicious". (a word used by Esther)

It's the people willing to go out on a limb in life who make it as entrepreneurs, which is why Sue and Steve will do well. I've lived my life in Stuart's camp though so I can certainly see both sides. However, looking back, the things we couldn't afford at the time are the ones that would have made wonderful memories and are things we now regret not having done. I believe in living within your affordable means, but why can't those means have a whole bunch of zeroes in them?

Thanks for sharing this blog post. Personally, I'm a Capricorn and I do have a lot of the Capricorn fiscal traits within me. However, I do agree with you about how sometimes a vacation is the best thing. As you said, it's all about the way you feel and whether or not you have faith. Stuart does make a good point about saving money for travel and I've written numerous articles on The Examiner. You can find them if you search for the National Youth Travel Examiner. Or, click on my website link and it will take you to my articles.

I remember I booked a trip to travel to Vancouver in May. I ended up getting laid off in March. My parents, non LOA friends, etc. told me that I should cancel my trip to Vancouver. However, the urge to go to Vancouver was so strong that I told them I would not do it. I was called a spoiled brat, unrealistic, a baby, etc. However, I knew how to save money from my previous travels, I knew that a job would come to me, and I knew that if I didn't get out of hillbilly land Virginia I would go insane.

My dad brought up the idea about finding a way to go in April instead. I started searching for tickets and after 4 hours of debating with people from an online ticket agency and an airline, I was able to buy another ticket for only $50 more! Anyway, I went to Vancouver and while I was in Vancouver, I had some of the most amazing manifestations. One of them included an e-mail from my dad saying, "Remember that job you applied to last month? They just called and wanted to know if you can come in for an interview when you get back from Vancouver?" That was so amazing! My vibes are usually so positive and powerful when I travel, especially outside of the U.S. (no offense).

I agree with you and Stuart that money decisions should not be taken lightly nor should anyone think that b/c one person does it then it means they should do it as well. I managed to travel to Vancouver and save money by visiting free/low-cost exhibits, staying in a hostel and with friends, walking to most places, saving food, etc. You do not have to be rich to travel, but at the same time you do need to be smart about traveling. I also do no own credit cards nor do I EVER plan on owning any. If that means I don't get to own a home then so be it. I'd rather pay in cash.

I think it's the case of to each their own. We are all different people with different experiences. I went with my instincts and ended up lucky :) . Although, that wasn't the first time when I went to Canada and receive kick-butt news. So, I wish everyone the best.

That was one of the best blog posts I have read. Thanks for sharing that! I love the two perspectives and it really goes to show that before we place judgement on something or someone, we ought to realize that we do not see the big picture. So instead of judging, just ask for more information if you are so inclined. I also loved what you said about mistakes. "...sometimes mistakes are where the magic is. And I believe in magic." I'm going to post that quote on my fridge! Joy and Love, Kathy

Great blog post, Steve! I love that you're putting those questions (and responses) out there for everyone to see. Your authenticity and willingness to be you, and not try to glaze over things or please everyone, is one of my favorite things about you and Sue.

Wow! What a blog post. Two sides of the debate with a sharing of POV's. It's so great to see how everyone has their own truth based on their beliefs and experiences. Sue and Steve, you are doing a great service by 'sharing' the deliberate creative way of life using the law of attraction. Your focus is in the right place for you and for so many others, many of whom I coach into deliberate creation of a joy filled life. Joy is the ultimate emotional destination and you reek of joy. Much love, Anne
