When the world says “no”, you say “next”.

Heard Jack Canfield say this the other day and loved it – “When the world says ‘no’, you say ‘next’”.

Don’t let the “No’s” get you down .. just keep on forging ahead!!

PS – We usually record 4 or 5 videos at a time which is why sometimes it looks like we never change our clothes (or background), but we do :)

Hi. What if the world is right? I’m not being funny, I’m serious. Sometimes an idea might actually be bad. I don’t think all my ideas are necessarily great. Maybe sometimes the world saying no is a reality check. So, how do you decide when the world is right and that your idea has no merit? I’m all for perseverence but you have to know when to stop. So, how do you know?

The world is right Shawn, except for when it’s wrong, BUT that’s really a matter of our perspective and can change from moment to moment. Happiness depends on what we decide to think about. We can’t fix every lousy situation in the world. Some ideas are indeed not worth pursuing. Sue and I have blundered a few times… and we’re usually willing to admit it in videos, and then do our best to laugh it off. It’s all a part of creating our life they way we want. That includes learning where to draw the line. We can’t teach anyone what is right for them or what is wrong. I don’t know if anyone has a perfect rule about when it’s time to stop. My personal guideline is, when something stops being fun… stop doing it.

I recently stopped playing piano in Casinos because I was coming home every night in a lousy mood, after playing music in a great band. Playing music in bands has been my religion… it wasn’t a decision I took lightly. But I thought about it, and I know what I want is to connect with people. I don’t actually want to haul a bunch of heavy piano equipment around, work ’til 1 in the morning and then get up 4 or 5 hours later to bring our kids to hockey.

So in a nutshell… pay attention to how you feel about what’s getting perceived as a problem I hope that works for you.

    Steve
