hi Ellen, So fabulous of you to offer. I can't wait to see a white turban and/or a court jester hat & any other ideas that occur to you. I've also fancied myself as an Internet Superhero complete with cape and tight suit. Red and black w Yellow trim like old Loverboy colour scheme? OMG, did I just say that with my outside voice?

When I first read the question about not having it all, I became a bit disappointed b/c I took it seriously. When I re-read it, I started laughing b/c I thought of all the things people have said to me. I come from a low-income family and even though I bust my butt earning good grades, working hard, etc. people still expect me to settle down as a housewife with a NASCAR lovin' husband n' sum of dem dere kids, I tell ya'll wut! I've had teachers in 2003 trying to convince me to join the Army b/c "that's the only way you will afford college." I had an American Consulate security officer say to me, "How can you travel if your parents aren't rich?" I've had people over and over again try to limit me in every single aspect of life.

Yes, sometimes it does take more than wishful thinking. Yes, sometimes you need to take brave risks that no one you know has taken before. Yes, it can be scary! However, you can have what you want if you believe in it. It may take some time. I can't click my heels three times and have a Master's in my hand, but once I get my Master's next year it will be even sweeter :). We learn lessons on our way to becoming successful. Plus, as you stated, some of us do not need the entire world at their disposal to feel happy.

This is a fabulous testimony of what the power of thought can do, It is inspiring to me to know that you are facing the same challenges of the negative belief of others. Your words are true, No one, and Nothing has enough power to stop you from getting exactly what you want in life. I believe that for every person who discourages, judges, laughs, and criticizes there are two that believe in me. Rock On Steve, and please continue to share your music! Not everybody relates to talk or text, but everyone relates to a song. Keep up the great work, you are touching many lives.

I love this post and I totally agree that life is many things and what I'd like to be is happy, to know I saw the beauty in the moments of distress as well as joy. And what's there to lose if you're happy and you get what you desire, or your happy and you don't get what you desire. You still win! You're still happy!

Hey Steve I sooo hear you. I'm a "postponed" composer/songwriter/professional muso/former music teacher. Years ago I took a clean break from teaching other people's stuff to focus on applying the 9-5 self-discipline to composing. I did it - wrote heaps - then I needed to figure out what to do next. Contacted Warner Bros and found out I needed an agent. Found an agent - the wrong sort for a composer of film music - worked for him paying my dues as an assistant. Ended up promoting, recording and marketing lots of indie and signed musos and bands. Back doin it for other people's music again, and forgot about mine. Bottom line - lots of love and profile in it but little money for the hours and hassles. Fame is easy to achieve - rich was a challenge. I'm taking a break from the industry to apply my marketing skills in addition to what I've learned over the last few years from Chris Howard to build serious financial backing and multiple sources of income by focusing on one thing at a time. Now turning my life around and working through the internal resistances, blocks, negative thinking - it pays off. Keep commnicating the real your :-)
