Sue’s blog day 1 – 5 (moved from Facebook)

ok..kids are in bed, Steve’s at a gig and I’m diving into the WordPress software to figure out how to get our website up and running. It’s a little daunting, but I’m up for it!

Nov. 20th 11:11pm

Things are progressing rapidly and so many pieces of the puzzle are falling into place. What we really need now is for lots and lots of people to check out our videos. Like, thousands of people. Once they see the videos, hopefully they’ll come to our website and once they’re there…we’ll have to provide them with reasons to stick around.

We’ve signed up for Traffic Geyser (www.trafficgeyser.com) to help spread our videos onto a whole bunch of sites. I’ll continue to manage the Facebook and YouTube sites, because I like to keep it friendly and interactive, but if you really want to get the word out (and eventually make money), you need your videos on as many sites as possible. Traffic Geyser does this automatically, saving hours…even days of time.

Traffic Geyser costs $97/month, but if you start the sign up process, and then leave before you’re done, you get one of those “no, don’t go now” messages encouraging you to try the free trial for $1/month. So, we are.

Tonight we watched a Traffic Geyser tutorial (instead of Grey’s Anatomy!!) and I felt quite the rush listening and learning and believing (even more) that this really could turn into something big. Huge even.

The next step will be to build our website. We’ve decided to use the WordPress software for that and tonight we chose the theme we’re going to use. After the site’s done (hopefully by the weekend), we’ll be following the step-by-step instructions on Traffic Geyser…which should then result in a whole lot of people watching our videos.

To increase views on YouTube, we’ll be posting the YouTube version of our videos when we post them on Facebook. That way each Facebook view will also count as a YouTube view. If you get enough people watching your videos on YouTube, you can make money directly from them…with ad banners etc.

As of tonight (day 5), we have 57 members in our Facebook group and a total of 403 views of our YouTube videos.

Yippee!!

Nov. 20th 10:46am

Last night we recorded our 2 best videos yet. I haven’t watched them back yet, so maybe I just think they were good. haha. I will have them uploaded in the next day or two.

I just got an awesome email from a radio buddy. I will always check with people that send us messages to make sure they’re ok with me printing them…so I’ll post it here later if he’s cool with it.

Thursdays are my morning at home. I don’t go to work until 2:00 and right now all 3 kids are in school. Steve’s downstairs in his studio, and I’m upstairs working on the laptop and the desktop at the same time. I have to pick up my youngest in an hour or so, so I’m flying through as much as I can until then.

This facebook page doesn’t allow for a real blog, so I’ll keep posting here until our site is up and then move my blog there. Which leads me to my next question…who knows much about building websites? Hmm…I’m going to start a new topic on that.

Thanks so much to everyone who has shown us their support. This is SO much fun!!

12-minutes, my a$$! Haha…

We have registered our site…

Coming soon…

Nov. 18th 9:12pm

Tonight we’re going to get our website up and running.

First we’ll need to come up with a good (and available) domain name. Then we’re going to follow the steps on this site…

We’ll let you know how it goes..

Nov. 17th 10:31pm

Ok, we just recorded a whole whack of new videos – now comes the editing..

As you may have noticed, we haven’t been too slick with the editing so far. I’ve just been trying to get the videos out there and not worry too much about that, but I think that will get better as we progress. It’s all part of the process..

Oh, and we scrapped the contest. We talk about it in the next video..

Nov. 17th 10:17am

Mondays are our “get to work all day” day. It’s the one day we have a nanny, so Steve and I both have the whole day to work. Steve’s at home in his studio right now creating a theme song for our series (woot!). I’m at work…trying to get my regular work done, but wanting to work on this new stuff more than anything!

We got our agenda done up last night, so we will have another video session tonight (after the kids get to bed and before Steve goes to hockey). See you then… :)
